There is a common myth that you need an NDIS plan to get support in Western Sydney. You do not. A whole layer of community services exists for anyone going through a hard patch, whatever their circumstances. Here is what is on offer in Liverpool.
Support is not only for NDIS participants
The NDIS is one important system, but it is not the only door. Community services are designed for the wider population: older people, new arrivals, families under pressure, young people finding their feet, and anyone facing isolation or hardship. Many of these programs are free or low cost, and most do not ask for a diagnosis.
What you can access locally
Across Liverpool and Western Sydney, community support covers a lot of ground. If any of these sound like what you need, you can simply reach out.
- Family and child support, including parenting help and early intervention.
- Youth mentoring and crisis support for young people aged 12 to 25.
- Health and wellbeing programs, plus mental health referrals.
- Homelessness assistance and help keeping a tenancy.
- Settlement support for refugees and newly arrived families.
- Social groups that ease isolation and build belonging.
How to get started
You do not need a referral or a plan to begin. The easiest first step is a conversation. Tell us what is going on, and we will explain what is available, what it costs if anything, and how to take part. If it turns out you might also be eligible for the NDIS, we can help you explore that too.
A community that holds you
Asking for help is not a weakness, it is how strong communities work. Whether you need practical support or just somewhere welcoming to land, there is a place for you here.
